about

Based on a traditional Icelandic ghost story, 'The Deacon of Myrká' was originally composed for a new ballet choreographed by Helen, Bryony and Emily Garner.

Guðrún is waiting at home for her lover – the deacon – to take her to the Christmas celebrations at his farm. Little does she know that days before, he had drowned attempting to cross an icy river on his way back home from her house. Nevertheless, the deacon arrives to pick up Guðrún as planned. Can Guðrún escape the ghost of her former lover or will he claim her life too?
